Without Limits: Black Diamond Engagement Rings and Jewelry
by Chavez Fine Jewelers Inc.
Without Limits: Black Diamond Engagement Rings and Jewelry AK1-10Chavez Fine Jewelers of Santa Fe, New Mexico is proud to offer customers jewelry designs from Allison-Kaufman. Allison-Kaufman has been in business since the 1920s and is considered one of the most respected names in fine jewelry.

Some of Allison-Kaufman's latest creations include exciting black diamonds. The unique composition of black diamonds derives from a different form of compressed carbon than white diamonds. Black diamonds are refreshing, scintillating, mysterious, and what everyone wants lots more of, now.

The Rarity of Love
Without Limits: Black Diamond Engagement Rings and Jewelry AK4-36The colors of black diamonds range from the deepest black to pearl grey. Like colorless diamonds, black diamonds are among the hardest gems on earth. They can be worn and enjoyed every day. Their chic luster is different from that of white diamonds. The black-as-night black diamond is the rarest of all natural diamonds. This gem, like love, is something special.

Bold, Beautiful Black Diamonds
Without Limits: Black Diamond Engagement Rings and Jewelry AK5-79Black diamonds make a bold statement, and their use as engagement rings continues to increase. The rarity of true love is symbolized by this rare gem. The contrast between platinum and other white precious metals and dark, smoldering black diamonds immediately captures the eye. A black diamond engagement ring often features the central gem surrounded by a halo of reflective white diamonds. Like the finest white gems, the best black diamonds are best revealed by simple cuts, such as the round brilliant or cushion cut.

Best of all, black diamonds combine easily and beautifully with other diamonds, brilliant colored gemstones, and lustrous pearls.

Good Luck and Celebrity
Without Limits: Black Diamond Engagement Rings and Jewelry AK2-11According to legend, black diamonds like the Korloff Noir bring good look. Once owned by a wealthy Russian family, the Korloff Noir is now owned by Daniel Paillasseur, a Paris jeweler. The eight-eight carat stone is said to imbue anyone who touches it with happiness. The Gruosi Diamond, the world's largest heart-shaped diamond of any color, took a full three years to cut. It is mounted in a necklace and surrounded by smaller white and black diamonds as well as green tsavorite garnets. The elegant combination of radiant color is stunning.

Black diamonds are the frequent choice of celebrities on and off-screen. Carmen Elektra's incredible black diamond engagement ring is both noticeable and unique. And Carrie ("Sex and the City") was overwhelmed by the black diamond engagement ring that Big selected for her. Black diamond earrings are the choice of trendsetters.

Black Diamond Mines
White diamonds are most frequently mined from volcanic rock deposits. In comparison, black diamonds originate in alluvial deposits in Central Africa and Brazil. Some of the most significant diamonds ever mined are black diamonds. "Sergio," discovered in 1893, is an enormous black diamond, that weighs more than three thousand carats!

Like love, black diamonds may be from heaven above. According to the "Astrophysical Journal Letters," (2006) researchers Jozsef Garai and Stephen Haggerty (Florida International University) and Sandeep Rekhi and Mark Chance (Case Western Reserve University) believe that black diamonds may have formed in hydrogen-abundant space above the Karman Line (the boundary between earth's atmosphere and outer space. and outer space). They theorize that black diamond crystals were not actually formed on earth.
